Names refer to three types of text, all of which will be covered on this page.

  1. A method of identifying players, Player Names
  2. Renamed mobs
  3. World names

Player Names[]

Player names are chosen by the player themselves. Without an account, players can add their name in the box at the top with the text 'Nick Name". If no name is entered, a random name from a list will be chosen. i.e. Emile, Harvey, Morgan, Omar. Names depend on your browser's language, but default name language is English and Russian.

Players are required to enter a name when they create an account. The name can be changed later. If you have a unique name, you can request for verification. You will receive an icon that looks like an apple with a green tick beside your name. This allows others to tell whether someone is pretending to be you.

Player names support color and other formats. However, it is not displayed on the leaderboard, and only appear on books signed with it, heads as item and block form, beacon indicators and when viewed by other players.

Mob Names[]

Mobs can be given names by right-clicking them with a renamed Name Tag. These names show up similar to player names.

Renaming mobs cause them to not despawn when no players are in a world. In other words, as long as they are alive, they are permanent.

Trivia[]

  • If a spawn egg containing a boss is renamed, the boss is also renamed, and its health bar shows the new name.
  • Miners have the name "Miner" displayed above it when it naturally spawns.

World Names[]

Worlds created by players have a name. The name is displayed every time when you enter a world, and disappears after a few seconds.

In its default color, it displays light green text.

It is also impossible to create a world without entering a name.
